AUDITION GUIDELINES

For WeStar Youth Quintet

• Mission: Through training in works of different periods from classical to modern, we will improve the ensemble skills of young string and piano enthusiasts. We will strive to build an outstanding youth music group in the Boston area, improve the member' love and skills for music, and help them go further and higher in pursuit of music and art. We will also help the team members participate in various high-level performances, music competitions and improve their precious lifetime music appreciation and performance experience.

• Audition Arrangement:

1. Video Audition Deadline: March 12, 2025, online submission
2. In-person Audition: Lexington, notified by email/phone after registration
3. Audition Requirements: Audition is free of charge and requires (1) performance of a piece of music at your own choice, music should be 4-8 minutes, (2) a piece of music that you need to sight read on site.

Boston WeStar Youth Quintet Admission Requirements

• Age Requirement: 12-18 years old. 
• Music Requirements: 3+ years of string experience
• Quintet:

2 Violins

1 Viola

1 Cello

1 Double Bass

• Rehearsal Schedule:  TBD
• Rehearsal Works: master works from classical, romantic and modern periods
• Semester Period: 10 weeks per term, four terms per year
• Music Director: Prof. Lei Zhang, violinist . 
• Artistic Advisor: Mr. Jorge Soto, Conductor of Boston International Symphony Orchestra
